The PGA Merchandise Show Does Not Support the Fair Guide!
PGA Merchandise Show organizers warn exhibitors to exercise extreme caution with respect to solicitations from Construct Data, publishers of the Fair Guide. Read full story in "Trade Show Week."
Expo-Guide is on the Prowl for Unsuspecting Show Exhibitors
PGA Merchandise Show organizers have learned of a new scam running out of Mexico that is targeting show exhibitors by using the PGA Merchandise Show name and trademark. The company Commercial Online Manuals is sending solicitations to show exhibitors to advertise in its Expo-Guide.
Expo-Guide Scammers Have Relocated To Slovakia.
Exhibitors be aware that he same Fair Guide/Expo Guide scammers have relocated to Slovakia. If you have fallen victim the scammers please refer to the website www.stopecg.org , which provides some guidance for any exhibitors who fall prey. The website was set up originally to deal with the European City Guides and Construct Data Verlag scam, but it now addresses several other similar scams and its advice. Further, if a victim has paid using a credit card, they should contact their credit card provider and ask for the charge to be reversed.
Exhibitors - Be aware of Travel Scams
The PGA Show, in partnership with the Travel Technology Group (Official Housing/OnPeak) are committed to providing you with the best travel deals around. TTG is the official travel provider for the PGA Shows.
Please be especially careful if you are contacted by IEA Event Planning to book hotel rooms as we are aware of many serious complaints against this company. The Better Business Bureau has given IEA a grade of "F", and IEA on March 24, 2010, notified customers that its merchant account had been frozen and it had temporarily ceased all operations.
We also advise caution if you are solicited by XMC Hotels. The BBB has not yet rated XMC Hotels, which was formed in late 2009, but there appears to be a relationship between the CEO of IEA, CD Palmer, and XMC Hotels (Mr. Palmer is listed as the technical and admin contact for the www.xmchotels.com domain name in the WHOIS database).
Finally, in general, please remember that many unscrupulous companies have websites that may look legitimate at first glance. The websites may even include logos claiming accreditation by or membership of chambers of commerce, the BBB, and other legitimate associations. However, a little investigation often reveals that the websites are in fact not accredited or not members, and that they have simply cut and pasted the logos from other sites.
