The introduction of new buyer and exhibitor programs is resulting in renewed participation in the 2010 PGA Fall Expo, Aug. 16-18, in Las Vegas. An unparalleled level of buyer amenities and a new modern look to the Show floor is transforming the PGA Fall Expo, all while still delivering a wide spectrum of golf-related companies, complimentary education seminars and an abundance of networking programs. This year’s Expo moves to the Venetian Resort & Convention Center at the heart of the apparel industry’s “Fashion Week” and the MAGIC™, MODA™, MRket®, and ACCESSORIES: The Show®* events.

Co-locating with MRket and next to the MAGIC Show, the PGA Fall Expo is introducing new sleek, contemporary exhibits that offer all-inclusive benefits packages. The new exhibits, representing a wide spectrum of golf manufacturers, are exhibitor friendly, turn-key in design and offer custom branding while eliminating the need for booth materials shipping and drayage.

Several top companies are taking advantage of the new location, timing and Fashion Week audience including:

  • ABACUS
  • Ahead
  • Antigua
  • Ash City
  • Callaway Apparel
  • Carnoustie
  • Cleveland Classics
  • Cutter & Buck

  • and many more.

The annual event will begin with the Outdoor Demo Day and three Industry Golf Tournaments on Monday, August 16, at the award-winning Revere Golf Club, a premier Las Vegas golf destination located 20 minutes from the strip in Henderson. Revere Golf Club is the holder of Golf World’s 2010 Reader’s Choice Award; Golf Digest’s 2008/2009 Best Places to Play (4 ½ stars) and Golf World’s 100 Best Golf Shops 2009 Winner. Leading golf companies are expected to participate in the Outdoor Demo Day and tournaments providing attendees with real golf testing experience of the latest products.

More than 250 golf companies will present and demonstrate their latest merchandise in new, upscale, all-inclusive exhibit displays at the Venetian Resort & Convention Center on Tuesday, August 17, 9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, August 18, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. PGA Golf Exhibitions, The PGA of America and the Association of Golf Merchandisers will continue to collaborate on a comprehensive education program offered to attendees at no cost, Aug. 17-18, both on the show floor and in adjacent Venetian meeting rooms. PGA Professionals may earn up to 20 MSR Credits for their participation in the PGA Fall Expo events and complimentary education programs.

The PGA Fall Expo Career Fair returns in 2010 after a successful debut last year to provide golf employers and attending professionals with continuing opportunities to network and source golf industry employment opportunities. Professional networking remains a valuable asset of any industry gathering and the PGA Fall Expo counts many programs designed for this within its schedule, including the popular Industry Welcome Reception returning the first night of exhibition events, Tuesday, Aug. 16, at TAO Las Vegas in the Grand Canal Shoppes of the Venetian.

The PGA Fall Expo is an industry-only event and is not open to the public.

The Apparel WireMore Good Reasons to Attend PGA Fall Expo

Becky Ryan, vice president of sales and marketing, Jack Nicklaus Sportswear: Beyond the obvious importance of the Spring buying season in the golf industry, The PGA Expo show is crucial because it grants both buyers and vendors the exposure to ideas and trends of the greater apparel industry at a national level through its coincidence with Magic. In today’s economy, pro shops are looking for something fresh and new to excite consumer interest. Through fun, vibrant, yet golf appropriate color stories, Jack Nicklaus Sportswear speaks to the golfer’s need to keep spirits lifted through personal style. In addition, buyers will be thrilled to experience the ever expanding Performance 18 category that Jack Nicklaus Sportswear has created for the classic golf consumer.

Ron McPherson, CEO and president, Antigua: Despite the economic downturn, many companies including Antigua, have been working very hard to create new and exciting products to introduce at PGA Fall Expo. Many of these new products will be available for delivery as soon as late September 2009. The golf industry has always been driven by product innovation. If you miss the expo you will be a step behind. The recession will not last forever. New and exciting products are what the golf consumer always looks for to purchase.

Leslie Chow, president and designer, Iconic Sport: For companies with smaller sales forces in some parts of the country, this show is the only chance to see and feel the full Iconic Sport UV protective spring collection. We are launching several industry-unique, new UPF 50+ sun protection products. Buyers will have a jump on their competitors for holiday and spring 2010 collections and deliveries, and just-in-time fall season fill-ins. Plus, airfares and hotel rates are the cheapest they’ve been in recent memory - check out the deals on travelworm.com and kayak.com.

Geoff Tait, co-founder, Quagmire Golf: The timing of the PGA Fall Expo lines up really well with the launch of our men’s and women’s collections for 2010, especially given our focus on expanding relationships with marquee clubs and resorts in the United States. Being in Las Vegas is also a great opportunity to meet with west coast buyers and show them the new Quagmire styles. Our fresh, cool, colorful looks really connect with their customers, and the expo’s location is a lot easier and less expensive for people to get to.

Karen Lovcik, president/CEO, Glove It: Pros/buyers who attend the fall show will see fresh, exciting designs for spring 2010 that will not only enhance their existing merchandise, but also give their passionate golf fashionista a reason to continue to shop with them. The expo has always been a great venue to preview 2010 collections and we get great feedback from our key accounts in the western region. The show offers buyers a convenient way to see what’s new in apparel and accessories all under one roof, making their buying decision very efficient.

Mark Killeen, managing partner, Pima Direct: In difficult economic times, all involved in retail are challenged to work harder and more efficiently. The key to retail success is providing the right products at the right time with the right value experience. A well-merchandised shop with great service is all part of that experience. The golf industry shows offer the buyers an opportunity to find the latest in fashion and learn product knowledge from the industry’s best suppliers. Their shop’s presentations are then enhanced and their service improves with product knowledge all leading to improved sales. Pima Direct has chosen to present its new spring 2010 line in Las Vegas as we can offer our margin enhancing products to more customers more quickly and help them succeed in today’s marketplace.

Ralph Dunning, founder, Dunning Sportswear: The PGA Fall Expo sets the tone for the coming season and allows buyers to see the evolution of brands and how they are meeting ever-changing consumer demands. Many discerning players are seeking a true athletic fit, but in classic prep styles that still pay respect to the traditions of the game. So, for spring 2010, we are introducing the Tour Slim-Fit Performance Polo that will offer close-cut, vintage 60s-inspired tailoring. We are obviously excited for these new introductions, but the show is also a great opportunity to connect with our customers as well as industry colleagues.
